Collectors' Choice Music, in association with EMI Music Special Markets, presents Peggy's much-admired 1960 compilation album All Aglow Again! on CD in its entirety for the first time, with six complementary bonus tracks.
Although Capitol Records released several compilation albums throughout Peggy's long association with the label, All Aglow Again! was more than a recycled "greatest hits" package upon its original release. It presented three previously-unheard songs from Peggy's last 1952 session for the label before her five-year foray at Decca Records -- Whee, Baby (co-written by Peggy); Louisville Lou; and Let's Call It a Day -- along with her major 1948 hit Manana. Of a more recent vintage, All Aglow Again! featured her 1958-59 chart hits Fever; Hallelujah, I Love Him So; and My Man, all then making their first appearances on a long-playing album. Added to the mix were her other recent singles Where Do I Go from Here? (from the current Broadway musical Fiorello!); You Don't Know (the original flipside for Fever); You Deserve; and I'm Lookin' Out the Window, a new adaptation of the folk ballad Go 'Way from My Window. Finally, It Keeps You Young, a previously-unreleased side from a 1957 session with Nelson Riddle, made its debut on the All Aglow Again! album -- just as it makes its CD debut on this release.
The CD's six bonus tracks are taken from 1957-58 singles that escaped LP release: Listen to the Rockin' Bird; Baby, Baby Wait for Me; Uninvited Dream (the CD debut of the version originally released); Every Night; and two minor chart entries, Sweetheart and Light of Love. Jack Marshall arranged and conducted ten of the CD's 18 tracks, Nelson Riddle four, Sid Feller three (the 1952 tracks), and Dave Barbour one (Manana). Four of the tracks are presented in stereo versions for the very first time.
Holly Foster-Wells, Peggy's granddaughter, shares reminiscences in the CD's booklet, alongside liner notes by Jim Pierson, producer of this series of Peggy releases from Collectors' Choice. The four releases (All Aglow Again!; The Lost '40s and 50's Capitol Masters; Then Was Then, Now Is Now / Bridge Over Troubled Water; and Make It With You / Where Did They Go) will be available exclusively from Collectors' Choice upon initial release in mid-March, 2008. All will become available in wider release on May 27, 2008.
