Apart from our interest in the performers we had a fine bit of social history going as we looked at the old clips which set the scene for life on the road for musicians and singers and the often gruelling rigours they faced.

The prog moved rather nicely through the changes brought about during and after World War 2, the Civil Rights struggles and the emergence of the female singer in her own right. Of course we got to know about their often turbulent backgrounds and how that may or may not have affected their lives.

There were some good contributions from other singers, musicians and contributors (I particularly liked those from Gary Giddins) as well as the video clips, some well-known some not so.

Of course we on this site had our own special link to Peggy via the attractively low-key and thoughtful memories from Holly.

I don't know how widely this prog could be seen world-wide for fans. Anyway, kudos for Mr. Producer (Chris Rodley) and the others connected to it.

Just to let UK fans know that on Friday 10th May at 9pm, on BBC 4, is a programme entitled Queens of Jazz: The Joy and Pain of the Jazz Divas. The programme is devoted to the careers of Peggy, Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, Sarah Vaughan, Ella, and Annie Ross. Presenting the Peggy section is Holly.

Here I am again after a long time. I haven't been here this year what I know. Have had trouble with this page a long time. Earlier I was jazzman7se now I'm Jarl Ingves. I planned and tried to remove all my earlier passwords but it was impossible. But now all seems OK again.

Peggy Lee at Hollywood Bowl this show I have a DVD what I know and it's very wonderful. Peggy was the greatest of them all!

The section in which she sings "From This Moment On" has been regularly available there, but the spoken intro and chatter at the end hasn't. "Love, You Didn't Do Right by Mr" might have been in YouTube before, but if so, that must have been years ago.

When I said that the clip shows Peggy's full appearance in the show, I lied. I imagine that there are still a few more qualifying pieces of sheet music that I haven't seen yet. In fact, I'm currently looking for an image of this one:

Next: I'm fully moving on to some technical matters that need to be fixed in the discography. The photo pages are so filled with images that they take up too much time to download, and many impatient viewers probably give up. I'll be working on reducing the size and footprint of all the images, so that the pages can download more quickly. And I might also change the way the written text looks; instead of running from one margin of the page to the other, it will cut in the middle of the page.

After those technical matters have been completed, I'll be entering radio performances (Bing Crosby Show, etc.) as well as TV and concert ones.
