Can any of you superfans help me remember (and find) a song that Miss Wonderful-Lee performed on Jack Benny's radio program? 20 years ago I used to borrow a tape of that program from our local library JUST to listen to that song again and again. But today I cannot remember what it was (I have long-since moved away from that town). I *think* I'd recognize the title of this song. I *know* it was a Jack Benny Radio Program.

Barbara,

I've been listening to the Benny shows regularly over the past 10 years or so and can never recall Peggy Lee guesting on his show. Musical guests were rare, as these duties usually fell to the "regular" vocalists e.g., Kenny Baker, Dennis Day, Phil Harris, Bob Crosby, etc. The show in question may have been one in which both Jack Benny and Peggy Lee were guests.

The link below lists all 900+ Jack Benny radio programs (it may take a while to download). FYI - When you get into the 1940's and 1950's the far right-hand columns lists the shows' guests and musical numbers. Sorry I wasn't able to be of more help in your search.

I just happened upon this four-years-old thread right now, while looking for something else. The person who was asking might have registered just to pose the query, and may now be long gone from these lands. But better late than never.

My guess: the singer in question was not Peggy Lee but Peggy King. It would not be the first time that the two Peggys get confused. I've seen as least one write-up that refers to Peggy Lee as "pretty, perky Peggy," which was a phrase applied back in the day to La King, not to La Lee.

Once, I bought a Stan Kenton CD that in which Peggy Lee was supposedly heard, singing various standards with him. Imagine my frustration when the singer turned out to be Peggy King. (Nothing against King, whose singing I like well enough, but I was unhappy to find my expectations dashed...)

Back to the query itself. I don't know if Peggy King ever sang in Jack Benny's radio program, but she certainly appeared in his TV show. You can find YouTube clips of an appearance in which she isngs "When Love Walked In, Brother."

Hallo Friends!

Peggy King was singing at Jack Benny show 1955 Episode 3. I think I have that show too in my collection. Maybe you find it on YouTube too. I don't know but they have the most of the shows. Look for Jack Benny and Peggy King, but I'm not sure if even Miss Peggy Lee was singing in any of Jack Benny's shows too. I let you know later. What I know Peggy King was also singing a short period with Benny Goodman

My best midsummer wishes for all my friends here
