Peggy Lee on radio - interested?

I'm a first time poster here at the board, and reasonably new to collecting Lee.

Is anyone interested in the radio shows that Miss Lee performed on? If so, I can make available here some that are public domain, most in very fine quality.

If you are interested, please reply to this thread.

And thanks for the many solidly-researched comments I have read as a casual browser of this board. You've helped guide my purchases.

Lots of looks, no replies?

Please keep in mind these will be shows you can download for free, probably featuring performances that are not generally available otherwise.

If you want to see a list of (probably) most of the shows she appeared on, look here: [radiogoldindex.com]

If you want to see what she sang on the Crosby shows she did, you can find show rundowns with her credits here: [www.bingmagazine.co.uk]

Welcome to the forum. smiling smiley

It's a very nice offer, but I don't download anything. I'm strictly old school.

I'd like to join Kelly in welcoming you to the board, David, even if I've waited so long to do so. I hope that the disappointing lack of response hasn't scared you away! As a group, we don't seem to be posting as frequently as we have done in years past. Maybe everybody is busy. (I myself am in the process of moving, plus I've had some email software trouble.)

Anyway, my guess is that, like Kelly said, many folks here are into the physical thing, as opposed to downloads. Some of us might also have in mind the status or pedigree of this site. Since it is the property of Peggy's estate, there could be concerns as to whether sharing music through the website is appropriate. You rightly mention that a lot of this material may fall under the Public Domain umbrella. However, the appropriateness of sharing it publicly can become fuzzy in cases such as the Bing Crosby shows. If I'm not mistaken, his estate owns the shows. Not too long ago, the estate took firm and active control of Bing's music catalogue. On the one hand, online vendors of Bing's radio shows apparently received "cease and desist" messages. On the other hand, Bing's estate proceeded to release themselves studio albums and anthologies consisting of selections from the radio shows. That trade off was worth it: the CDs released by the estate have been excellent, so far.

All of this as a way of saying, David, that I'm sure I'm not the only one who appreciated your very nice offer. And since you describe yourself as relatively new to collecting Lee, here's hoping that we can be of help if needed (and that you can tell us about your Lee collecting experiences, whenever so inclined!)...

I would be interested! I know she performed on WDAY Fargo with Mary J Dunkirk way back.
