Peggy Lee and today's "music"

If Peggy Lee was around today, do you think there are any songs or singers she could relate to? The song world has changed so much and the ugly stuff wins praise these days, I think her choices would be quite limited.

I bet that she would like Adele a lot... I also find it likely that she would appreciate Gotye's "Somebody I Used to Know," and some of his other songs. Artists such as John Legend and Jason Mraz could have appealed to her to a certain degree, too.

If one moves away from the mainstream (from what radio plays and from what the music charts show as being favored), there's some fine music out there. (Mind you, it's not that I have done so, alas -- just that I'm mildly aware of it.)

And then there are the many artists who are still singing standards...
