Old CDs by Peggy Lee at bargain prices

I was just checking the catalogue of Peggy Lee CDs at Amazon. For those of you who are budget-minded -- like I certainly am -- some of Peggy's oldest CDs can now be ordered for as prices as low as one cent! (Plus shipping and handling.) Yes, oftentimes they are not new discs, but they are still in good condition. Sometimes they are filed under "used" but when you read the specifics, you are told that they are actually new. If you want to check yourself, all you need to do is go to Amazon's Peggy music page and make sure that items are sorted by "price: from low to high." Let's see... this link might do the trick:

Some of the real cheap yet worthwhile Peggy CDs that I noticed:

Hello Ivan,

Thanks for the information! I purchased 'Sugar 'n' Spice' at a bargain price and was delighted by the sound quality -- they deleted the echo and it almost sounds new to me, with Peggy's voice so clear and 'dry'. I also like the fact that they added all three remaining songs from the sessions, especially 'Loads of Love' which I only have as a 45 record; it is great to have it on CD -- that is one of my favourites from these sessions!

Thanks again, hope you are fine, best wishes,

Thomas

Very happy to hear, Thomas. And I'm in complete agreement with your assement of that CD's sound quality. I'm a fan of Ron McMaster, the engineer who did most of Peggy's CDs under the Capitol Jazz sub-label. And needless to say, I too was thrilled by the inclusion of "Loads of Love," "I'll Be Around" and "Amazing."

Keep enjoying the CD,
Ivan

His work is quite good, though the CD of Things are Swingin' erred when it said that technical problems rendered the stereo tape of 'Fever' unusable. In any case, for sound quality, check out Steve Hoffman's remasters of Latin ala Lee, Bewitching Lee, and Black Coffee. All the best sound these albums have had.
