Check out youtube.com and type in Peggy Lee and watch two duets from the Dean Martin Show as well as other gems. I've also enjoyed performances by Doris Day, Ella Fitzgerald, and Frank Sinatra. Try it... you'll like it.

Have a great summer,

Thanks for the tip. That was really fun to watch! Are those available on DVD anywhere?

Thanks Steve for your tip. I really enjoyed watching Peggy and Dean together. It was the first time for me to see them both perform together. Fantastic... what a great personalities together. I can imagine Dean was in awe when he only looked at Peggy. By the way I also checked in on some other artists. Two lovely performances by Julie London and a great interview from the BBC with Terry Wogan intervieuwing Eartha Kitt.

Greetings

Yes, Liz, all of those performances are available on DVD. Here you go:

1 - Fever
2 - I'm a Woman

Both available in the DVD "Fever: The Music of Peggy Lee," which originally aired as a PBS special. The person that put these two performances on Youtube probably took them from the PBS broadcast.

3 - Duet with Dino (Peggy's own songs)
4 - Duet with Dino ("For You, For Me"winking smiley

Those seem to have been taken from another special that aired on PBS, this one about Dino, and released on DVD as "That's Amore."

Actually, the DVD "That's Amore" has #3 only. I think that #4 was seen on the PBS show, but was not included in the DVD.

(#4 might be in one of the Dino DVD's that are being sold by some Dino association.)

5 - Why Don't You Do Right (with Benny Goodman)

was taken from its original source, the movie "Stage Door Canteen," which is on DVD. This performance is also available in quite a few other DVDs, including the aforementioned "Fever: The Music of Peggy Lee."

6 - Why Don't You Do Right (with Dave Barbour)
7 - I Only Have Eyes for You

These are music videos made by Peggy and Dave for TV showing. They can be found in both VHS and DVD.

The best source for #7 is, once again, the DVD "Fever: The Music of Peggy Lee."

At present time, # 6 can be found in a bootleg DVD that is easily available in stores, and which is titled, if memory serves, "Peggy Lee."

8 - It's a Good Day

Can also be seen in the DVD "Fever: The Music of Peggy Lee," not complete but in excellent picture quality.

I don't know from which source the Youtube person took it -- possibly from "Jazz Ball" a music clips movie that is not on DVD yet. (It was on VHS.)

9 - Peggy Lee Sweet Sensation

The Peggy clips in this montage were all taken from "Fever: The Music of Peggy Lee."
__________

I have mixed feelings about seeing these performances in Youtube. Overall, it is a good thing, because it will make more people acquainted with Peggy -- particularly people from this generation. But I wish that the clips there were even more impressive than the ones picked.

It was June 2006 that I discovered YouTube and posted my findings in this bulletin board. We have come a long way. Endless hours of pleasurable viewing and relishing performances we never heard of or imagined. This medium keeps Miss Peggy alive and allows us to repost YouTube clips onto Facebook too. Have a great summer everyone!
