London Calling!

On April 16, 2001 EMI UK released throughout Europe a new album titled Peggy Lee Sings the Standards. As the title suggests, each of the 22 songs on the album is considered a “standard” by writers ranging from Irving Berlin to Paul Simon. Two songs appear for the first time on CD: “Bridge Over Troubled Water” and “Then Was Then and Now Is Now”. The album was digitally remastered at Capitol’s studios in Hollywood using 24 Bit Super Bit Mapping, and the sound is superb. Right from the opening brass on “Cheek to Cheek” (the first song), it is obvious that the album is special.
